It's United Nations World Water Day March 22nd.  This year's theme is 'Water for peace'

Smart Water pledge

We are privileged to have water on tap 24 hours a day, but we can't take this for granted.

For the majority of people in the world, water is extremely scarce and hard to access. Even in New Zealand we can run short of water at times due to a rising population and changes in climate patterns.

Water is the life giver of all things – ko to wai ora ngā mea katoa.  By using water carefully, we are protecting the health and well-being of our waterways. We are also ensuring that water is not wasted and there will be enough to go around when rain is scarce.

Ko ahau te wai, ko to wai ko ahau – I am the water, the water is me.

Choose one water-saving action you have never tried before & show that you care about wai in the Waikato.
