All water restrictions in Hamilton and Waikato District and part of Waipā will be lifted from today (20 March) following recent rain and the sustained water use across the region.

Water restrictions have been lifted across Hamilton City, Waikato District and Waipa District.

Warmer weather and increasing water demand has prompted the Councils to move to Alert Level 2 to help conserve water.

Water restrictions are now in place following an increase in water use and expectations of the driest summer for decades.

Two of the region's councils, Hamilton City and Waikato District Council, are asking residents to further conserve their water use, to reduce the need for additional water restrictions.
