Two of the region's councils, Hamilton City and Waikato District Council, are asking residents to further conserve their water use, to reduce the need for additional water restrictions.

Low water supplies in Te Awamutu and high water use in Cambridge has forced Waipa District to move to Water Alert Level 3 – effective from today, Thursday 22 January.

Hamilton City and Waikato District are moving to Water Alert Level 2 to conserve water use.  

After just over a week at Water Alert Level One, a prolonged spell of dry warm weather and high water demand has prompted Waipa District to move to Water Alert Level 2 – effective today (12 January).

Residents in the Hamilton, Waikato and Waipa districts are being asked to be smart with their water use with the introduction of Water Alert Level 1 from today.
